Football at Hampton is for everyone. The on-site pitches are exceptionally good and Hampton has a highly-prized and much envied tradition of playing attractive, passing football. The School also boasts a state-of-the-art all-weather 3G pitch.

The standard is very high in the A squads and our teams consistently compete at the top level of local and national competitions. Hampton players have represented England Schools and England Independent Schools and some have won soccer scholarships to American universities. However, there are numerous opportunities for footballers of all standards at Hampton to enjoy the game. Saturday fixtures are played by teams from the As to the Fs and there is also a ‘Social League’ option in senior Games lessons.

Hampton takes part in the Surrey Cup and the Independent Schools Football Association Cup, as well as the England Schools Football Association tournament. After Christmas the senior teams also play in the Trinity Cup and the London Independent Schools Cup.

Hampton’s teams enjoy regular tours abroad, including to the Gothia Cup in Sweden. The seniors have been to Brazil, Italy and Germany in recent years.

football dribbleThe practice time allocated for football is extremely important for the boys to develop and improve.The boys concentrate on core skills; passing, receiving and dribbling, as we feel these are the essential qualities to build on in order for boys to reach their  full potential. During the training sessions we also focus on team structure, tactics and the physical demands of the game.

COACHES

The coaching staff at Hampton is made up of FA qualified teachers ranging from level 1 through to level 4 with extensive experience.

These staff guide and support the many other enthusiastic teachers involved in the games.

FOOTBALL CLINICS

These are run weekly for goalkeepers,strikers, defenders and midfielders to offer the gifted and talented in the sport the opportunity to fully develop and practice with mixed age-groups. Senior players train extensively and are given individual strength and conditioning programmes, where necessary.

GENERAL FOOTBALL PRACTICE

Most A, B and C Teams have one lunchtime session and one games afternoon and work on fitness and tactics in preparation for their fixtures. All First Years choosing football have the opportunity to train after school in the first half-term so that they can be assessed and guided appropriately.
