The School welcomed the MP for Twickenham, Dr Tania Mathias, who was visiting Hampton to officially open Hampton Radio. Dr Mathias was interviewed by Sixth Former, Fabio Rossi on a number of contemporary topics, including the NHS and the expansion of Heathrow Airport.

Hampton Radio launched at the beginning of this term and more than fifty boys are currently involved in the initiative, either on-air, producing, reporting, planning or editing. The team works on regular sport, music and politics podcasts, as well as one-off features and interviews.

Dr Tania Mathias commended Fabio for his interview:

School radio can play a big part in giving the younger generation a chance to have their voices heard, and I am delighted that Hampton is getting involved. Fabio’s interview was more challenging for me than my appearances on the Today programme – I was impressed that his questioning already has a unique style that is powerful yet courteous.
