Third years enjoy forging new friendships

Hampton Third Years took part in the annual Team Building Day on the school fields, giving them an early chance to build friendships in their newly formed tutor groups. The tasks throughout the day required the boys to combine their mental skills to solve the problems, along with an ability to successfully work in a group, collaborating and co-operating to gain points towards the inter-form competition. Pupil, Mikey Wilson said “The day was a great opportunity to mix with my new form, while putting our heads together to solve the tasks”

The tasks, such as Team Skiing and The Giant Spider’s Web pushed the boys out of their comfort zone and forced them to be original in their thinking. As Mr Steven Insula-Cao, Senior Workshop Practitioner at The Problem Solving Company explained, “We have been coming to Hampton for eight years and each year the boys find new ways to solve the problems.”

Nick Woods, Joint Head of Third Year believed that the day was an invaluable chance for the boys to get to know one another:

“Many of the boys have come from different schools and this day allows them to develop relationships with their new classmates, as well as their Sixth Form Mentors and Form Tutors. It really helps the boy to settle in, in addition to encouraging them to work together in groups; a skill that will be vital as they move through the School.”
