Hampton crews recently performed well in the showpiece event of the rowing calendar, the National Schools Regatta.

Hampton crews won an impressive three Gold medals and five Silver medals at Eton Dorney, competing against the other top Rowing schools in the country. The winning crews were the J16 1st and J15 2nd VIIs, as well as the J16 1st IV, who rowed in the smaller boats competition on Sunday.

Elsewhere almost all the Boat Club’s crews reached their respective A finals, with the J18 1st VIII coming in 6th and the 2nd and 3rd VIIIs both picking up Silver medals. The J16 crews performed brilliantly overall, with the 2nd VIII and 2nd IV adding Silvers to the Golds already won in their age group.

99 Hampton boys competed in this year’s event, which was held at Dorney for the first time, and the young rowers and thousands of spectators helped create a great atmosphere at the site of GB rowing glory in the London Olympics.

The Boat Club can now look forward to the rest of the season, which culminates in Senior rowers competing in Henley in the Princess Elizabeth Cup at the end of term.
