First Years make friends and have fun on first trip with Hampton

The New Forest was the destination of the entire First Year as they headed to the annual trip to Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre.

The trip allows Hampton’s new boys to get to know their peers outside the classroom, as they overcome physical and mental challenges as a group. The two days spent at the centre were packed with fun activities, which included a High Ropes course, a Blind Trail, Archery and Raft Building. Their skill in constructing the makeshift vessels was immediately tested when the rafts were tried out on the lake at Avon Tyrell, with mixed results.

Head of First Year, Mr James Partridge, thinks the trip is very important for the new arrivals:

“The trip to Avon Tyrrell is always a highlight of the First Year calendar. It’s an action-packed two days, filled with fun activities. I enjoy seeing the boys developing new skills, growing in confidence and getting to know each other in the short time we are away – they could not have a better foundation for a successful time at Hampton.”
