Lower Sixth Formers excel in business competition

Six pupils from Hampton took part in an Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) business competition at The Lady Eleanor Holles School.

Five teams were invited to participate in the event which is designed to build a pupil’s understanding of accountancy with professional support. The groups were given an imaginary company and all the informaton concerning it. They were then invited to pitch for business opportunities.

To help the pupils, a professional accountant was assigned to each team, who acted as a guide throughout the planning stage.

The Hampton team consisting of Zaki Vellani, Finlay Coles, Rayaan Afzal, Isher Hehar, Tristram Bolton and Ashni Chani, gave strong pitches and were awarded second place by the independent judges.

Economics teacher, and leader of the Hampton team, Mr Tom Rigby said:

“It was great for the Hampton boys to build on their Economics studies by gaining a first hand experience of decision making in business. It was also especially pleasing to see the team work so well together and the boys’ runners-up place was well deserved.”
